The region of Porto Heli has one of the richest and most diverse natural environments in the Mediterranean
Enriched by a year-round temperate climate, the Peloponnesian Peninsula is blessed with a wide variety of plants and natural life. From the lush green hills to the warm, turquoise waters of the sea, the region is truly blessed by nature.
With a rich diversity of fish, Porto Heli still has a thriving fishing profession. Each morning local fishermen return to the harbour with overflowing quantities of fresh catch for the region’s many cafés and restaurants.
Since antiquity, the region has been connected with the production of olive oil and still today produces some of the best oil in the world known in ancient times as “liquid gold”. The surrounding landscape is rich with olive groves with many trees over a thousand years old.
The mild climate encourages a rich and varied panorama with everything from cypress and carob trees, pines, oleanders, geraniums, pomegranates and even a wide and bountiful range of vineyards.
